Hycrete Introduces Cradle-to-Cradle Concrete Admixture

The company has maintained Cradle-to-Cradle CertifiedCM Gold under the new, more stringent, V3 guidelines—and has achieved platinum in material health.

Hycrete, a New Jersey-based manufacturer of waterproofing and corrosion protection technologies for concrete, just announced that its products have navigated the challenges of the Cradle-to-Cradle Products Innovation Institute’s transition to V3, which  includes more stringent requirements in Material Health, Material Reutilization, Renewable Energy and Carbon Management, Water Stewardship, and Social Fairness.

As part of its maintenance of Gold LEED status under V3, Hycrete has developed comprehensive water and social responsibility and fairness programs. Examples of these initiatives include a program to reduce water use and improve effluent quality, which will be started in 2016, as well as a program working with engineering students like the ones at the University of Nevada, Reno to educate in the field of concrete admixture technologies and assist students as they conduct their own research.

What does this mean for the building materials industry?  Hycrete admixtures are now the only Cradle to Cradle CertifiedCM Gold concrete waterproofing admixtures. In other words, Hycrete now contributes significantly to overall project LEED goals, at the same time offering a high-tech improvement on the water-resisting performance of concrete.
