Significant Changes to the California Fire Code 2016

View Calendar

This seminar provides an overview of critical concepts included in the Significant Changes to the California Fire Code® 2016 Edition. The participants will learn the correct use of the code’s requirements in the design, plan review, inspection and analysis of projects. They will apply the code in clear-cut situations and build their understanding of the intent of the code when asked to make compliance decisions.

The purpose of Significant Changes to the California Fire Code® 2016 Edition is to familiarize fire officials, building officials, plans examiners, fire inspectors, design professionals, and others with the many important changes in the 2015 California Fire Code® (CFC®). This publication will assist code users in identifying the specific code changes that have occurred and, more important, assist them in understanding the reasoning behind the changes. It is also a valuable resource for jurisdictions in their code-adoption process.

Upon completion of this seminar, you will be better able to:

  • Explain the intent and application of the new and revised requirements in the 2016 CFC.
  • Identify the specific code changes that have occurred between the 2016 and 2013 editions of the CFC.
  • Identify key changes in organization and code requirements.
  • Identify the applicability of design, plan review and inspection requirements.
